The Challenge
The client needed a design and engineering partner who could not only bring their innovative concept to life but also navigate the complexities of medical device development.
The device needed to be intuitive, reliable, and have a controlled penetration depth to accurately deliver drugs into the dermal layer of the skin. Furthermore, Medical Device Regulatory compliance as well ISO13485:2016 compliance were critical components of the development process.
The Solution
As a strategic partner, the Voxdale team engaged in an iterative design process, incorporating feedback from healthcare professionals and healthy individuals to optimize the usability and performance of VAX-ID. We focused on key design elements, such as predefined needle lengths and associated diameters for precise penetration depth and built-in activation protection to prevent needle-stick injuries.
During the development, we adhered to stringent ISO13485:2016 standards, integrating risk management and human factors engineering throughout the process. A comprehensive usability test was conducted to ensure safety, performance, and reliability and to understand user-independency to inject a liquid at a controlled depth.
The result is the award-winning VAX-ID, a patented device for accurate, painless, and reliable injection in the skin.

Conclusion
Voxdale collaborated with Mahindra Racing to optimize and design the gearbox casing and construct the body for the racing simulator. These improvements enrich the overall racing experience and enable the team to better prepare for upcoming challenges.
