Bert Bruggeman is a seasoned executive and sustainability-driven innovator with over 30 years of leadership in product development, operations, and technology commercialisation. His career spans diverse industries, including semiconductors, solar energy, robotics, automotive, and construction, where he has played a pivotal role in scaling businesses, securing investments, and driving high-impact sustainability solutions.

Currently, Bert serves as CEO & COO of Biomason, leading revenue, product development, and operational strategies. Under his leadership, the company secured a $65M Series C investment and forged strategic partnerships, including a major collaboration with IBF, Denmark’s largest concrete supplier. Additionally, he serves as Chairman of The Ocean Cleanup, supporting global efforts to reduce plastic pollution.

Previously, Bert held executive roles at Tesla, overseeing global car manufacturing operations and driving improvements in quality, cost, and efficiency. He also founded Gefira Solutions, a consultancy focused on high-tech commercialisation, and played a key role in scaling renewable energy technologies at SVTC and MEMC/SunEdison.

With expertise in fundraising, strategic visioning, and technology development, Bert has successfully led multi-billion-dollar operations, secured over $300M in funding, and guided companies in transforming innovations into market-ready solutions. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from KU Leuven and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Brown University.
