Cervical cancer remains a global health concern, with roughly 75 % of cases linked to persistent high‑risk HPV infections. Although vaccines exist, their effectiveness depends on timely administration and broad uptake—conditions that are far from universal. The result is a pressing need for fast, dependable testing that can guide vaccination strategies and encourage early detection.

MIRA aims to bridge that gap. The project is developing a compact diagnostic device that simplifies the entire workflow—from sample collection to clear, on‑the‑spot results—while operating independently of traditional lab infrastructure. Just as important, the single‑use test cartridge will be produced from renewable materials and designed for full compostability, setting a new benchmark for eco‑conscious medical technology.
